Meet Your Instructor
Originally from central Massachusetts, Tony Menotti received his first guitar at age 6 and began playing seriously at 11. As a teenager, he also explored drums, bass, and piano which has given his music a unique and well-rounded character. Tony graduated from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Performance and has passed the Music MTEL. He is a former guitar instructor for Merry Melody Music Academy and is currently the owner and lead instructor of String Theory Guitar Lessons where he has gained experience teaching students ages 6 to 57 in a wide variety of genres. Tony is also an active performer and recording artist in jazz and other improvisational groups. Over the past decade he has developed a diverse background with experience in multiple genres including jazz, rock, funk, blues, metal, pop, and world music. Through his extensive catalog of original compositions he has developed a deep appreciation for the self expression available in music. Tony strongly encourages students to explore various interests to eventually discover their own voice. His goal is to instill a love for music in his students that will last a lifetime. It is his belief that through the arts children can develop an invaluable creative and intellectual mind.
